No bank connections.
No account credentials.
No financial data stored on Nettly servers.
๐ Your financial data never touches our servers. It stays on your computer only โ no cloud, no database, no one else can see it. It's saved automatically in this browser, so closing the tab or restarting your computer won't lose anything. The tradeoff: that storage isn't indestructible โ clearing your browser data, using private/incognito mode, or switching to a new device would. Once you've reviewed your first week of transactions, a ๐พ Download Snapshot button will appear in the top-right corner โ worth using occasionally as backup, or whenever moving to a different device or browser.
Paste from your bank or card. Nettly figures out the format.
๐ก Tip: Download transactions since the last 3 months from each account. 2 months is the bare minimum for spotting recurring bills reliably โ 3 gives real buffer if a bill lands a few days late or you miss one payment. Paste them one account at a time, then we'll walk you through setting your Needs.
If your bank shows account numbers in transfer descriptions (like "TRANSFER FROM X0174"), entering the last 4 digits lets Nettly automatically label transfers between your own accounts instead of leaving them generic. Stays on this device only, just like everything else โ skip if you'd rather not.
Things like tuition, school fees, or childcare โ anything necessary that didn't fit the list above. Skip if you're done.
๐ก Not sure if something counts as a need? If you're legally or contractually obligated to pay it โ a signed payment plan, a court order, a service agreement โ it's a need, even if it wouldn't otherwise be. An orthodontist bill isn't usually essential, but once you've signed the payment plan, it is.
Everything else โ every merchant you didn't mark as a Need โ will be set to Want. You can always change any individual purchase later from the dashboard.
Security, stability, peace of mind โ not guilt, not shame.
Because only part of this account is your Safety Net, the protected amount will occasionally need updating. Most updates take less than 30 seconds.
๐ก Bills that swing seasonally (like heating) get a wider range here the more history is pasted โ a full year, if available, picks up a real winter-vs-summer swing that 3 months sampled from one season can't show. That only holds if the underlying bill hasn't changed for another reason (a move, a new provider, a plan change) โ the system can't tell a seasonal swing apart from a permanent jump, so both would just show up as one blended, wider range.
This stops that old pattern from still being predicted. Whether it's a new job, fewer hours, or no replacement income yet โ no need to enter anything about what comes next, that shows up in the pasted transactions on its own once it does.

Cash isn't tracked automatically โ logging it here keeps the picture complete.
๐ก If this cash can go into a bank account, that's worth doing โ it becomes trackable automatically from then on, instead of needing to be logged by hand every time. This is for whatever stays cash.

๐ Nothing here is stored online โ not on our servers, not in any database, not in the cloud. That's what makes Nettly private. This browser already remembers everything automatically, so nothing is lost by closing the tab or restarting your computer. The tradeoff: that storage isn't indestructible โ clearing browser data or switching devices would lose it. Downloading a snapshot occasionally is worth doing as backup, or to pick up on a different device.
